Is the food done yet?

Hi all, The sun made a small appearance over the weekend. It was very much needed, however just as quickly as it came, it went. We're back to cold temperatures and high winds. I suppose I can handle the cold having lived here in Michigan all my life, but those winds were something else. They managed to pull our gazebo out of the ground which led to Noah lecturing the winds. I kid you not; my son started to point his lecture towards the windows and talk about how bad that was; this gave me a good laugh. Comfort food is the way to go today with this cold weather. You know those meals that make you want to wrap yourself in a blanket on the couch and binge watch Netflix. Or so I hear, lately with these two wild things it's hard to find the time to sit on the couch and watch something other than Disney Junior. God forbid I change the channel because they'll come out of hiding and exclaim, "hey I was watching that!" Interesting little one...you weren't even in...

Get out of town!

The Westin. Why can't everyone look straight ahead!? Hi all, Today I'm going to move away from recipes and talk about our weekend in Chicago. With all the snow days we've been experiencing, it was nice to have this small trip. We were all suffering from cabin fever. Since Noah was going to be off for President's day, we figured it would be a good weekend to go out and stay at a hotel. To give you a little back story, Noah loves staying at hotels. To say that he loves them would even be an understatement. His passion for hotels started after we visited Florida for the first time in 2017. I feel that he enjoyed hotels before that, but in 2017 he began to vocalize his true love. His new thing lately is to pass me the calendar and ask me if I can show him when we're going to the hotel next. Oh Noah, as if it were that easy. Makes me laugh every time. We were going to be in Chicago for three days and two nights. I have kids who would find a way to get mess...

It's hump day!

Hi all, Today I was in the mood for one of my all-time favorite meals, Tostadas. Generally, I like mine without any meat on top of them. Tostadas work great as a meal for those who have picky eaters. You can throw whatever item your heart desires on them. They also work for breakfast with over easy eggs. We'll get to that idea later. Since we spent last weekend out of town, I figured I'd try to come up with a meal that would yield leftovers until I go grocery shopping. On a side note, does anyone else feel like you spend more money making small trips to the grocery store throughout the week versus when you make one big haul? Hope that's not just me! I decided that I would swing by the Mexican store after picking Noah up from school. I wanted something that wouldn't take a lot of time to pull together. Now, if you do not have a Mexican store near you, most large chain grocery stores have the ingredients we will use today, so don't worry too much. Again, this...

Tackling snow days...again!

Hi all, As I've mentioned before, we're avid wrestling fans. Last night we were able to attend Monday night RAW. Noah had a blast. He couldn't contain his excitement, and neither could we. The energy during a live event is unlike any other. Noah left with a kids size replica belt, while Devon went with the adult replica. As I said...we are big wrestling fans. We got home pretty late last night and for the first time in a long time, I not so secretly wished that Noah would have a snow day the next day. Well, mother nature listened, and here we are with another snow day! Noah thinks that this is his 90th snow day. I mean, I get where he's coming from since this year has seen a record amount of snow days. What a way for him to start his school career.  Since we were all going to be stuck at home today, I figured that we would have something fun for breakfast. The challenger was my family's hungry bellies, but have no fear! Entering into the ring, the loc...

A little bit of heat never hurt anyone!

Hi all, If you live in Michigan, you know you can wear a full-on parka one day and then just a regular jacket within the same week. Super excited that we are no longer restricted to the confines of our house and now actually able to run errands without worrying about frostbite! I find it funny that for us 49 degrees feels fabulous. Today I thought I’d create a meal that had a refreshing taste not only to brighten up our plates but also our day! To be real and honest, my kids made a giant mess while I was trying to get the ingredients prepped and they also played the ever so popular “I’m not touching you!” Game. I’m sure you all understand how delightful that can be. I find that when the kids get a little (or a lot) out of control, my best reaction is to take a deep breath and ignore them. As long as no one is hurting each other, often they’ll sort it out themselves. If not, the big scary mom voice helps! How many of you have little ones that pout and turn their head t...
